Blockchain concepts explained with care and context.

A Confirmation Count Is Not the Same as Finality on Every Blockchain

A wallet shows a transaction in a block, while an exchange still says pending. These interfaces may be reporting different stages rather than disagreeing about the same event.

It helps to separate four questions: was the transaction broadcast, was it included, what assurance does the network provide about that inclusion, and has the receiving service completed its own process?

Inclusion
The transaction appears in a block on the chain being followed.
Confirmations
A service-defined count commonly related to the containing block and subsequent blocks.
Finality
The assurance provided by the network’s consensus design that the relevant history will not be reversed under its security assumptions.
Crediting
The receiving platform’s decision to make a deposit available under its own policy.

Those concepts are related, but a single confirmation count is not a universal measure of finality across blockchains. Ethereum’s proof-of-stake FAQ distinguishes its explicit, economically secured finality from the probabilistic confidence associated with proof-of-work systems. That explanation should not be copied onto another network without checking its design.

Read the status in context

Check the exact network, transaction identifier and the receiving service’s current deposit requirements. A token name alone is insufficient when an asset exists on several networks. Also distinguish the status of a base chain from any additional settlement process used by a layer-two system or bridge.

A block explorer can help you inspect on-chain information, but it cannot explain every internal compliance, maintenance or account review at a platform. If the network status and service policy suggest the deposit should have arrived, use the platform’s verified support route with the relevant identifier.

Do not resend funds simply because a screen remains pending, and do not share seed phrases or private keys with anyone offering to accelerate confirmation. Understanding the separate stages is more useful than assuming a larger number on one interface guarantees immediate availability everywhere.
