The token name matches on both screens and the destination address looks familiar. That still does not establish that the receiving service supports a transfer over the network you selected.
Some assets exist on multiple networks, and services support different combinations. Before sending, treat the asset, network, address and any required memo or tag as one set of instructions.
Start from the receiving side
Open the intended service through a trusted route and inspect its current deposit instructions for the exact asset. Confirm the supported network and whether deposits are temporarily unavailable. Do not rely on an old screenshot or a network selected automatically by the sending app.
Coinbase’s transfer troubleshooting guidance specifically asks users to check that the sender’s network matches the recipient’s expected network. This illustrates a general checking problem; support and recovery options vary by service and transaction.
Verify the complete destination
Use the verified address provided for that deposit and check any additional identifier required. Similar address formats can appear across networks, so visual similarity alone is not confirmation. Be alert to clipboard changes and addresses copied from an untrusted message.
If another person supplies the destination, confirm the details through an established contact route. Urgency, a promised bonus or a demand to move funds to “verify” an account should not override basic checks.
Understand the limits of a test
A small test transfer can sometimes reduce the amount exposed to a mistake, but it must meet the service’s minimum deposit and other requirements. It does not make an unsupported network compatible or prove that a later changed address is correct.
Check fees and the expected confirmation process. A transaction shown as broadcast is not necessarily credited by the receiving platform yet. Avoid repeating the transfer because the first result has not immediately appeared.
If something goes wrong, preserve facts
Record the transaction identifier, asset, network, destination and time. Contact the relevant provider through official support. Do not share a recovery phrase or private key with someone offering to retrieve funds, and do not assume recovery is possible.
This is transfer-risk education, not an investment recommendation. The most useful pause happens before confirmation, while the details can still be checked without relying on a recovery process that may not exist.
